What kind of issues has been marched for in Hämeenkatu in Tampere during the different decades?
Free Thoughts is a participatory demonstration organized by a visual artist Kalle Hamm. The replicas
of demonstrations signs from different decays will be carried in the demonstration. Issues vary from
censorship to women rights and from capitalism to migration.
The demonstration celebrates the right to freedom of expression in a public space, tolerance for different
opinions and ability for conviviality in plural society. The demonstration makes visible the historical
layers of Hämeenkatu and messages from the past will get simultaneously new interpretations in the modern
society, when they have been taken out of their context.
